Introduced by the Haleakala Branch Station of Hawaii in 1982, the Greengold avocado is an offspring of the prized Kona Sharwil. Like its famously delicious parent, the flesh of Greengold is dense, rich and creamy, and it surrounds a small seed. The green skin of this pear-shaped fruit is easy to peel. The tree is medium sized and upright with an “A” type flower. The folks at the South Coast Research Station in Irvine rate this avocado as “excellent.” We view Greengold as a good choice for a high quality, Sharwil-like avocado that will make fruit in cooler areas where the “B” type Sharwil cannot be fruited consistently.
Sold out for spring 2024. We should have more Greengold trees available this summer; let us know if you are interested.
Trees are approximately 3 feet tall and sell for $45 each cash or check or Venmo, or $47 via credit card or PayPal. All trees are sold in a poly grow sleeve that is roughly equivalent to a #2 pot.
